Biography: |
| | Kathryn has lived on the West Coast most of her adult life. Born of artistic parents - one an architect and watercolorist, the other a sculptor - she grew up appreciating art in all its forms. In her young adult years, she felt particularly moved by the art of Georgia O’Keefe, and still finds her oils invoke a depth of feeling like no other.
Fortunate enough to be able to sail for many years in and around Vancouver Island, Kathryn was inspired by what she saw and always thought she might paint "when she had time". After relocating from Nanaimo to Campbell River in 1998, Kathryn found through a seemingly serendipitous incident, the studio of Chris Wootton. Painters of all walks and talents gathered there weekly, and amidst an eclectic selection of subjects, music and conversation, Kathryn found her muse.
Kathryn left Campbell River and her artists community to move to the lower mainland in 2001 where she found the Burnaby Arts Council Gallery and the Burnaby Artist Guild where she painted and exhibited happily for 8 years. Kathryn returned to her beloved Island in 2008, this time to reside just outside the lovely city of Victoria. After once again searching for a community of artists to join with, Kathryn discovered Studio 30 and is now pleased she is once again connected to other artists. Kathryn looks forward to showing her work at the Studio’s annual Spring and Fall shows. |
